GUREZ VALLEY
Tucked away in North Kashmir near the Line of Control, Gurez is a paradise of rugged mountains, alpine meadows, and the crystal-clear Kishanganga River. The snow-capped Habba Khatoon Peak forms the perfect backdrop to charming wooden houses and traditional life untouched by modern chaos.
Activities: Scenic drives along the Kishanganga River, village walks, trout fishing, camping, and photography of the dramatic landscapes.
Due to heavy snowfall (around 2 metres (7 ft)) and closure of Razdan Pass in winter, the valley remains cut off for almost Five months of the year.
BANGUS VALLEY
Spread across miles of lush grasslands and dense pine forests, Bangus Valley is one of Kashmir’s least-explored gems. Its open meadows, framed by snow-laden peaks, make it a perfect summer escape far from tourist crowds.
Activities: Camping under the stars, trekking through pine trails, birdwatching, horse riding, and photography of wildflower-filled meadows.
LOLAB VALLEY
Known as the “Land of Love and Beauty,” Lolab is a charming rural valley with apple orchards, wooden mosques, and sparkling freshwater springs. The valley offers a peaceful countryside experience, with nature and culture blending beautifully.
Activities: Orchard visits, village interactions, nature walks, photography, and exploring centuries-old shrines.
AHARBAL WATERFALL
Often called the “Niagara Falls of Kashmir,” Aharbal is a stunning cascade with turquoise water plunging into a deep gorge. Surrounded by pine forests, it’s a sight to behold in all seasons.
Activities: Photography, short hikes to viewpoints, nature trails, and picnicking by the falls.
WATLAB
Situated near Wular Lake, Watlab offers panoramic lake views and is famous for its lotus gardens and rich birdlife. The hilltop also houses an old shrine with spiritual significance.
Activities: Birdwatching, photography, boating on Wular Lake, and sunset viewing.
